PTCL earns over Rs. 43 billion revenue in nine months
Monday, May 5, 2008 12:12ISLAMABAD: The un-audited financial accounts for the period ended 31 March 2008 were presented before the Board of Directors, which met here on Tuesday 29 April 2008, at the PTCL Headquarters. During the period under review, PTCL earned total revenue of Rs 43,963,963 in nine months.
The telecom sector had experienced dynamic change, landmark developments and innovation resulting in a highly challenging and fast growing telecom market. The expansion in telephone infrastructure during the nine-month period has improved.
There was a huge competition between landline and mobile telephony world over. Despite this, fierce competition among the operators in the industry was also unprecedented. In this highly competitive environment, PTCL has been able to maintain its position in the market and realize healthy profitability. Being a catalyst, PTCL is providing network sharing with other operators.
The Board reviewed various long term and short-term strategic plans to improve future positioning of the Company. The Board, while appreciating PTCL management’s forward-looking approach, hoped it would continue extending more and more state of the art services to customers. The Board, while admitting the fact of cutthroat competition and expansion of telecom market to huge proportions, advised PTCL to position itself in way that it could effectively match all future challenges.
The Board emphasized on KPIs, better customer care services and network improvement. It hoped many more customer-centric steps would be taken keeping in view the huge business potential available in Pakistan’s telecom sphere.
The Company was geared up to introduce modern IPTV technologies with new bundled services such as triple play soon to be launched. Such products and rapid enhancement of the PTCL product base will serve the leverage the company’s landline infrastructure, to boost revenues and minimize churn.
