WANDERINGS – MONTH OF PHOTGRAPHY 2007Singapore, 28 May 2007 – Contemporary photography takes centre stage at this year’s Month of Photography on from 29 June to 30 July 2007 at City Hall and the Alliance Francaise de Singapour. Based on the theme of ‘Wanderings’, MOP 2007 presents four exhibitions; Retrospective by Martin Parr, Errance by Raymond Depardon, Objectif Paris and Out of Focus.  

The photographers in MOP 2007 are as diverse in their approaches to photography as the subject matters they capture. But what connects them to each other in MOP 2007 is that they have all wandered, whether to foreign lands, in their home countries or in a particular city, capturing their encounters, observations and experiences in their photographs. Some may have chosen to wander to far away places and some have chosen to stay closer to home. But it is not only geographical distance that is significant to wanderings. It is also the observation and discovery of not merely the different, the extraordinary or the fantastic, but the ordinary, the everyday and the mundane. Thus, while each of the exhibitions in MOP 2007 present a different style of and approach to photography, they show that these photographers have wandered into their subjects, whether these are people or places, and used photography to
